Palmwoods School news PALMWOODS State School is entering a team of three Year Seven students in the "Kawana Shoppingworld Challenge". Principal Don Roche said the competition provided an opportunity for schools and students to promote their diverse range of achievements, programs and activities in a display. The Palmwoods team will compete in heats against teams from State and private schools across the Sunshine Coast. "The team will be required to answer questions on a range of general knowledge and mathematical problems," Mr Roche said. "Crowd support for our team in their heats will be greatly appreciated." The school is also organising a Palmwoods entry for the annual Sunshine Coast Sugar Festival being held in Nambour on Saturday August 8. This years theme is "The Sweet Smell of Spring" and Palmwoods State School invites all members of the community to participate in the festival and designing the schools float. The Palmwoods State School recorder band will be playing and marching at the festival and students will be marching in uniform and theme costume. Floats will be setting up at the Maroochy Shire chambers carpark at 8.30am, with the grand parade scheduled to start at 12.30pm. The parade will travel down Currie Street, to Petrie Park and will be followed by billy kart races, market stalls, displays, animal farm, childrens rides and entertainment. A fireworks finale is scheduled for 5pm. The Palmwoods P and C group will be running the coffee lounge in Petrie Park and would like to invite all to come along for a coffee and a chat. All funds raised will be used to provide up to date facilities for the school. To participate in the organising or design of the schools float contact Jenny McKay at Palmwoods State School. |
