Business News Coastwide Auto Electrics - Cotton Country - Silvan Park Nursery THERES a new owner at Coastwide Auto Electrics, formerly Palmwoods Auto Electrics. Bill Clarke, who has been in the auto electrics business for almost 40 years, or "as long as I can remember" is now in charge, and promises to offer the same professional and extensive service. "I have done a lot of work on farm machinery. In fact you name and Ive done it," he said. Bill is not a newcomer to running his own business either. He had an auto electric business at Waterford near Beenleigh for 27 years and moved to the Sunshine Coast with the intention of taking life a bit easier. "I started out working at Coastwide Auto Electrics part time but now I have ended up taking over and have gone back into business for myself," he said. "The business will be run on the same lines. I am still offering a breakdown service, nothing is really going to change." Bill said there had been some confusion when Palmwoods Auto Electrics changed its name and address at the same time. "The business is formerly Palmwoods Auto Electrics but we are now Coastwide Auto Electrics at Forest Glen," he said. ·=============== Fashion sale at Cotton Country EXCITING fashions from graduate designer Michelle Langford are going out at bargain prices as the Cotton Country fashion outlet at Forest Glen gears up for a new summer range. Michelle, who has opened Cotton Country in partnership with her parents Marilyn and Tom Kitson, has been overwhelmed by response to her upmarket country clothing. Her label is already selling throughout Queensland and northern New South Wales. Michelle studied fashion for three years at the Mount Gravatt College and began her career with a stall at the Buderim markets. Demand soon saw her moving into wholesaling. She designs and cuts patterns on the Sunshine Coast and clothing is then manufactured in Brisbane for distribution from the Forest Glen warehouse. There are no outlets on the Sunshine Coast, so local residents can take advantage of wholesale prices from the warehouse door. "I design for the average size and dont take too much notice of what the magazines say," Michelle said. "Realistically, most women are bigger in the hips so I design for fit." Cotton Country specialises in 100% cotton but also offers linen and cotton mixtures. The range is mix and match with plain colours co-ordinating with checks and tartans and some floral. There are fitted and elastic-waisted skirts, slacks and co-ordinating shirts and blouses. Dresses suit the age range from mid-20s up in sizes 10-24. Cotton Country is also happy to work with fundraising groups for specials and fashion parades or party plan. ·=============== SPRING is here and Silvan Park Nursery at Winston Road, is fully stocked with flowering plants to turn your garden into a blaze of colour.
