PALMWOODS State School entered a record three teams of seven students to this
years Tournament of the Minds, two claiming second place in a hotly contested
Sunshine Coast wide contest.
This annual competition is designed to encourage students to use their thinking and
social skills in problem solving situations.
From a field of 24, the Language and Literature team placed second, while the Social
Science team placed second from 22 teams.
This is a creditable result for the school which was generally competing against much
larger schools, some with a long and successful history in the competition.
Special thanks and congratulations go to Jenny Rose, who co-ordinated participation and
to Jenny Drew and Jenny Gursanscky for their perseverance and assistance.
Special praise to each of the participants Talia Rodgers, Rebecca Nixon, Coen Hyde,

Johnston, Paula Jeffries, Lawrence Drew and Stephen Clark; and Fraser Goodfellow, Abby
Meyer, Cara Szabo, Carrisa Carter, Lauren Rutherford, Eli Brown and Erinn Lea.
