POLICE BEAT
WITH SNR CONSTABLE PAUL CAMPBELL

STOCK owners are reminded to check their fences, as wandering cattle and horses are a danger to traffic on our roads. Most recently a motorist was lucky not be seriously injured when his vehicle struck a cow on Montville Road. Unfortunately, the animal had to be destroyed.

TWO local residents were taken to hospital after a two vehicle traffic accident on Highlands Road, Eudlo. They collided head-on on a narrow stretch of road. Extra care must be taken when travelling on small rural roads as the shoulder of the road usually consists of loose gravel with a small strip of bitumen in the middle. Your speed on these types of roads must be reduced so that evasive action can be taken to avoid oncoming vehicles.

A PALMWOODS youth located some computer equipment that had been stolen in a break and enter at the Maleny High School in July. Anyone finding lost or stolen property must contact police who will endeavour to located the owner of such property. If an owner cannot be located the finder can claim the property and keep it lawfully. Remember, there is no law that says "finders keepers". People can find themselves being charged with possession of stolen property or stealing by finding, so do the right thing and ring the police.

A MOSSY Bank Road resident had roaming dogs kill a number of chooks. The dogs’ owners are probably unaware that their dogs are responsible for the killing of the chooks and it is up to them to keep their dogs at home and stop them wandering.
