Big month
for kindy kids
PALMWOODS Community Kindergarten and Preschool has enjoyed an eventful month.
Well known local dentist Denis Imarisio brought Dental Week to life for both groups of
children when he visited to speak about brushing teeth and healthy foods and explained
what a dentist does.
He left the children enthusiastic about dental hygiene and with a gift pack of
toothbrush and toothpaste.
Lucille, from Sippy Creek Animal Refuge spoke to the children about how the group cares
for lost and unwanted cats and dogs and finds new homes for them. Jane the puppy came with
Lucille to say her own hello to the children.
The two groups also enjoyed a story telling experience presented by Maroochy Library at
the end of the month and there is also a visit from Cora about Dog Obedience and safety
for children coming up.
Bookings for the centre are now being taken for 1999, 2000 and 2001. Anyone looking for
quality educational programs for their kindergarten and preschool age children are welcome
at this community-based non-profit centre which caters for the needs of children aged
three to five in full and half day programs.
The centre also operates a Playgroup on Thursday afternoons between 1pm and 3pm, which
is a great place to start. For more information, contact Lesley McGrath, 5445 9027.
