SUNSHINE Coast Grammar Schools school head John Burgess and principal Al Roberts
travelled to Italy, France, England and Canada recently with the purpose of setting up
sister schools in those countries.
Both men were extremely pleased, not only with the reception in all the schools they
visited, but also with the willingness of them to enter twinning arrangements with the
grammar school.
With five languages being offered at the school, Mr Roberts said he was excited to
announce they now had a sister school in Mascerata, Italy; in Amiens, France; Wisbech
Grammar, North East England and Vancouver in Canada.
"From term one next year, we will begin to receive groups of students from these
countries coming to stay for a few weeks with families from the school, he
said. "We also hope that some will return to board in a home-stay situation in the
very near future.
"Our own students will have the opportunity of reciprocal visits starting next
year. These sister schools will complement our other sister schools in Japan, Indonesia
and China.
