Preschool
to open at Eudlo
EUDLO State School will introduce an early education centre in 1999 to cater for
preschoolers.
School principal Larry Gray said the need for a preschool was raised during a recent
parent meeting as a service that had been sought for some time by the Eudlo community.
"We found there were sufficient preschool aged children to meet Education
Queenslands requirements for the establishment of an EEC, and as we were fortunate
in already having a block which would be ideally suited for an early education centre, we
have now set the plan in action.
The centre will cater for preschoolers and Year 1 students. Year 1 students will attend
from 9am to 3pm each day while the preschool program will operate on a five day fortnight.
Mr Gray said he was a firm believer in the benefits of having preschool and Year 1 in
an early education centre. "Children entering preschool at an early education centre
have that continuity of experience which is so valuable for the first two years at school.
The early education centre will be located in the modern, double teaching area at the
front of the school. The building already includes a kitchen area, wet area, outdoor
covered area and adjacent adventure playground.
Mr Gray said additional equipment to support the new preschool curriculum would be
obtained once final confirmation was received.
Positions are still available by contacting the school on 5445 9343.
