school news
WOOMBYE Warriors proved to be a tough tennis team when they defended Caloundra Rookies,
eight games to 21 on August 28.
On September 5 they played the other Woombye School team Woombye Wombats. This match
was played at the school and was enjoyed by the students. The Warriors won this match 23
to 8.
On September 9, the Warriors played Headland Lorikeets. Although they only had three
players, they finished ahead on 19 games to 16, with the match going to the Lorikeets.
WOOMBYE Wombats won its recent match against Bli Bli, but went down to the Warriors.
James Page has been welcomed back to the team.
THE Woombye school participated in all events at the recent Nambour District Athletics
Carnival at Bli Bli on September 3 and 4: Nicholas Allen-Waters (800m), Kevin Gread
(800m), Shae Roberts (discus), Emma Fruscalzo (discus and shotput), Cassie Bishop (800m),
Larissa Yates (800m, 100m), and Annita Atkinson (100m, 200m) and 11 years champion, have
all gone on to represent the district at the Regional Athletics Carnival to be held at
Caboolture on October 8.
