POLICE BEAT
WITH SERGEANT ROD GIBSON

HORSE riders and motorists alike have been reminded to look out for each other while riding/motoring on district roads, particularly going into the summer months when more riders will be on the roads. Motorists and horse riders should find out the necessary road rules regarding horses on the roads. Generally for horse riders - a horse has the same rights and privileges as a driver of a vehicle and have to abide by the road rules accordingly.

However, if a rider of a restless horse indicates with a hand signal - a driver of a vehicle should slow down - inquire at the police station for a relevant pamphlet.

THERE’S been a blitz on drink drivers in the Palmwoods area. Five drink drivers were intercepted in the last month. Under a new Traffic Branch Policing initiative, Palmwoods now has an adopted traffic branch man who will work in conjunction with Palmwoods police for a more visible presence. It is anticipated most residents would be pulled up for a random breath test at some time.

WHILE break and enters have been at a minimum recently, locals are asked to keep an eye on the Palmwoods hall, particularly at night, after it was broken into recently and minor vandalism occurred. The offenders are known to police and will be suitably dealt with.
