Dr Woolard shows some Taekwan-Do moves
at the Woombye School of Arts recently.
MEDICAL scientist Dr Gerald Woollard, who boasts a second degree black
belt in Taekwon-Do, took time out following a medical conferences to attend training at
the Woombye School of Arts Hall.
Mature students, with ages ranging from 35 to 73 years and Taekwon-Do
practitioners, participated in a seminar with him.
Quick to emphasise the positives of Taekwon-Do, with both healthy and
not so healthy bodies, Dr Woollard addressed issues that included training following hip
replacements, knee operations and strokes.
Dr Woollard alerted students to medically recommended practices whilst
warming up, stretching, and practicing the art.
Employed as a clinical biochemist in the Department of Chemical
Pathology in New Zealands Auckland hospital, Dr Woollard specialises in diagnostics,
metabolism, therapeutics and nutritional medicine, and is a member of the American College
of Sports Medicine. Dr Woollard was the primary instructor at the Bai Rui International
Taekwon-Do Schools Sunshine Coast branch, run by professional instructors Rocky and Trish
Rounthwaite.
The two hour practical session was followed by a further five house of
consultation where personal issues were addressed by the doctor.
