Project
2000 on site
A SITE has been nominated for the Project 2000 heritage tile and shelter project.
Up to 350 terracotta tiles, deep etched with family names or messages
from local residents will be used to pave a park area between the Nicklin Clock and the
Memorial Hall in Palmwoods.
The Palmwoods Progress Association project team, headed by Roger Brooke
said response to the tile project had already been strong.
"The tiles, individually engraved with names of current residents
who wish to take part as well as others bearing the names of our pioneer families, will
commemorate the current communitys contribution to the 20th century at the turn of
the millennium," he said.
"This will be a permanent monument for Palmwoods and represents
the chance for local families to go down in history."
Mr Brooke said the area would fit with the existing landscaping and
ultimately a little gazebo would be built at one end. There will be balustrading at the
top of the rock wall which is about two metres above the road and a circular stone seat
will be placed at one end.
Residents who would like to be part of Project 2000 are invited to
attend the next PPA meeting on November 12, at the Memorial Hall or contact Mr Brooke 5445
0213.
