Chevallum
open day will showcase school
CHEVALLUM State Schools open day on Wednesday, November 11, will
be a great chance to appreciate the quality learning and creative environment offered at
the school.
Principal Lyn Winch will welcome and speak to people at 9.30am. This is
an ideal opportunity for parents and carers to gather information on the schools
philosophy and practice.
Chess players from the school were winners at the Sunshine Coast Chess
Associations 1998 School Tournament held on October 25, at the Sunshine Coast
University. With almost15 schools participating, Chevallums teams won Divisions A
& B and came third in C & D. The older students in the winning teams are :
Division A, Raphael Szumer, Ben Lamberton, Tim Lamberton, Victor David Murray; Division B,
Zalia Powell, Michael Foster, Travis Bleney, Marcus Bleney.
Strawbfest last month raised almsot $13,000 for the school. Chevallum
School thanks the many supportive local businesses and people and hopes the thousands who
came along enjoyed the night.
Surfing and swimming coaching is currently underway for students.
Teacher Judy Fisher says many able swimmers are enjoying honing their surfing and board
riding skills at Alexandra Headland with professional coaching from the Surf Riders
Association.
