Local Warriors prepare to attack

Woombye Warriors to represent the Sunshine Coast.

TEN young soccer players from the Woombye Warriors Under 10s have been selected to represent the Sunshine Coast in Coffs Harbour for a two day competition in January.

Out of 24 boys selected throughout the Coast by the Sunshine Coast Churches Soccer Association, nearly half of them came from the same club.

Sixteen players out of the 24 selected will be attending the regatta which will involve playing against Coffs Harbour and local district teams. Warriors Coach Paul Vonhoff is delighted with the heavy representation of 'Warriors' in the squad and he is confident that they will perform well.

"This sort of experience is invaluable to any player hoping to be selected for further state or regional championships,'' he said.

"The players are very excited and we are sure they will do their best. The boys all get on really well, five of them have been playing together since they were six years old."

The chosen players from the Woombye Warriors are Daniel Rose, Daniel Cross, Luke Alderson, Nick Simon, Alex Keen, Kyle Shackerford, Scott Taylor, Terry Brooker, Daniel Brooker and Josh Reed.
