WITH CR GEOFF LITTLER

PRESENTLY the Maroochy Shire Council is in recess. The next meetings will be: January 19: Planning and Development Committee Meeting; January 20 - General meeting followed by Finance and Corporate Services Committee Meeting; January 27 - Engineering Services Committee Meeting followed by Environment and Community Service Committee Meeting.

Members of the public are very welcome to attend.

THE Nambour Customer Centre phone service is now operation. The number is 1300 366 695 - a free call. Council's after hours emergency phone number is 5441 4580.

MY thanks to Rotarian Neil Reiser from Energex for his assistance in having those unsightly palm fronds removed from power cables near the post office, Palmwoods.

MOTORISTS will have noted the newly placed mirror at the intersection of Woombye/Palmwoods Road with Taronga Street, I thank Alison Glen for bringing to Council's attention the need for the mirror which has improved safety at this intersection.

THE Maroochy Shire Traffic Safety Committee has recommended that the speed limit on the Palmwoods/Montville Road be reduced. The recommendation is that it be 80km/h for the first 1.85km from Palmwoods, then 60km/h for the remainder of the road to the Montville/Maleny Road. I requested that the Department of Main Roads take into consideration the reduction of the speed limit to 40km/h between Palmwoods Police Station and the railway overpass. This and the safety committee recommendation were endorsed by Council at the last engineering services meeting.

THERE has been a comment about Eudlo, Palmwoods and Woombye being referred to the Railway Towns in the town plan documents. Any comments for or against can go on the back of an envelope to Cr Geoff Littler, PO Box 159, Palmwoods 4555.
