Christmas Party

AT the CWA Divisional Christmas Party held early in December, Mrs Vera Herse of Hobsons Road, Palmwoods was the lucky winner of the door prize.

It was a beautifully decorated Christmas cake.

Vera was thrilled and sought the donor of the cake to ask if it was a boiled fruit cake, or a good keeping traditionally made fruit cake.

Vera and Les were to spend Christmas with their son and thought it would be wonderful to take the cake to him if it were the good keeping, traditional Christmas cake.

To Vera's amazement the donor laughed and told her that the "cake" under the beautiful decorative icing was entirely made of Rocky-Road - and best consumed forthwith.

Vera sighed as she realised that she and Les would incur the wrath of their medical practitioner if they partook of any of the huge cake.

But Vera and Les' many grandchildren had no such qualms and enthusiastically devoured every portion...from Val Brooke.

 Riders need help

THE Palmwoods Riding for the Disabled Association will start the new year with a Helpers' Training Day on Saturday, February 13 at 9 am.

New helpers are always welcomed and always needed. Anyone with a few hours to spare on Saturdays or Tuesdays, who would be interested in joining the merry band of volunteers at the Centre, situated at Palmwoods Park on Hunchy Road (off Montville Rd), should endeavour to attend.

Prior experience with horses is not necessary as there are a variety of duties to choose from, all of which can prove equally rewarding for the helper. For further inquiries contact Hazel Larard on 54 459 026.
