Palmwoods
in Progress
The last meeting of the Palmwoods Progress Association for 1998 was
held on December 10th last and the main topics of discussion were:
1. Palmwoods Information Kit being produced by the Palmwoods Progress
Association and to be printed in late January '99; distribution to be through selected
outlets in Palmwoods; those business houses who may be interested in advertising in this

2. Project 2000 Report. Working drawings of the proposed Memorial
Shelter and the Inscribed Floor Tiles to be constructed on a selected site in Palmwoods
Town Centre is well advanced and many residents and early pioneer families have already
placed their orders for the "Tiles", cost is $100 per tile and they can be
ordered on a $20 deposit with the balance to be paid off during 1999, all people
interested should contact Roger Brooke on 54450213 or Bev Everson on 54450975. There is to
be a special Project 2000 Stall on site at the AUSTRALIA DAY CEREMONY at Kolora Park on
Tuesday the 26th January 1999 where you will see Plans and Tiles on display and Order
Forms will be available, so bring your money with you and place your Tile Order, a
memorial of yours for ever more.
AUSTRALIA DAY CEREMONY at KOLORA PARK was the main topic discussed -
the program and some of the activities in early stages with the final activities to be
made at the PPA's January 14th meeting. The report from Roger Brooke and his committee
advised the Australia Day Ceremony Breakfast would be FREE this year and would begin at
7am thru to 8am provided by the Lions and the Palmwoods Progress Association and fullon
entertainment with artists and singers and music to be continuous from 7.30am until 9.30am
when the official part of the day will begin with the Palmwoods Progress Association
Citizen of the Year Awards, this will be followed by the Australia Day Citizenship Awards,
(previously known as the Naturalization Ceremony). A full program will be available at
selected business outlets in Palmwoods and advertised in the press and on radio prior to
the BIG DAY. The Palmwoods Scouts will provide morning "billy" tea and damper
around 9.30am. Flight 7 Air Training Corps will again be in attendance as will members of
the Palmwoods Singers, Palmwoods Kindergarten Children with a Claymaking demonstration.
Riding for Disabled members providing Face Painting for the children. The drawing of the
PPA's Porcelain Baby Doll "Carol" Raffle during the morning. Lots of local
talent, singers, instrumentalists, Bush Poet and Australian Ballad and Story Telling will
be some of the great entertainment on the day plus Palmwoods own star Annie Jeffs
performing for us all from the Kolora Park Rotunda, you won't be disappointed ...
