A word from our Vet
Dr Brett Stone B.V.Sc. (Hons), MRCVS (Lond)

CONSUMER research shows fleas are considered to be the most serious health problem facing the family cat or dog.

Flea problems are at their worst in summer so you need to make a special effort to give your pet a happy and healthy summer.

Veterinarian - Dr Brett Stone from Palmwoods Veterinary Services has some timely advice for families who want to enjoy summer with their dog or cat and keep fleas under control product with minimum fuss.

Some pet owners complain that flea treatments don't work very well or are difficult to apply.

This problem is solved with Advantage Flea Adulticide, a new flea control product released in Australia last summer.

Advantage is a once-a-month pre-measured dose that is applied by parting the hair of the pet - between the shoulder blades of dogs or on the back of the neck of cats - and squeezing the solution onto the skin, from the tube.

Unlike some other flea control products, Advantage is not required to be given with food or on an empty stomach.

It also starts working right away - killing around 98 percent of existing fleas within 24 hours of application- and it breaks the flea life cycle.

Advantage can also help eliminate fleas from your pet's habitats by stopping the development of flea larvae.

Other steps you can take include washing your pet's bedding and keeping the animal's regular surroundings clean.

Advantage is available from your veterinary clinics and a consultation is not required.

If you have any questions or problems regarding fleas or any other pet or livestock matter, Dr Stone and his helpful staff at Palmwoods Veterinary Services will always be there for you.
