Vet has real love of animals

p9b.jpg (15205 bytes)PALMWOODS vet Brett Stone (right) has always loved animals. In fact, he loves animals so much that his childhood dream was to have his own zoo in his back yard.

Growing up on a cattle property, Brett was exposed to animals and rural life at a young age. He was riding horses by the time he was five and by the time he was in his early teens he decided to become a vet.

After graduating from University of Queensland with Honours, Brett worked in a mixed practice at Warwick.

Performing a caesarean section on a cow at 3am one freezing winter's morning convinced him that moving to a warmer climate may be wise. Brett's wife Tonya was local to the Sunshine Coast and in 1993 they moved to this area and they "just love it".

Brett spent last year working as a vet in the United Kingdom gaining invaluable experience in a mixed practice, before returning to the Coast and then buying the Palmwoods veterinary services recently.

"My wife and I love the Hinterland area and we dreamt of having our own practice here someday.

"We are thrilled to be part of the Palmwoods community."

Brett's surgery is located at 4 Briggs Street, Palmwoods and he offers a 24 hour service.
