Palmwoods
in Progress
A RECORD 10 new Australians received citizenship certificates in Palmwoods on
Australia Day. The citizen ceremony, first introduced to Palmwoods last year, has already
become an important part of the town's annual Australia Day celebrations.
The breakfast in the town's Kolora Park was the 11th Australia day celebration in
Palmwoods. The program also included the presentation of the fifth annual Palmwoods
Citizen of the Year awards.
Organised by the Palmwoods Progress Association (PPA) in conjunction with the
Palmwoods/Woombye Lions Club, the breakfast included a selection of fruit from the towns
which earnt the district the name, Salad Bowl of the Sunshine Coast.
Family entertainment was provided as well as Billy tea and damper from the Palmwoods
Scouts, breakfast courtesy of the Palmwoods/ Woombye Lions.
Residents' Information Kit: PPA wishes to inform business houses that
a promotional kit will include maximum information from the Maroochy Shire Council to
provide a suitable directory for the Palmwoods District and its residents. This
publication will be a nonprofit promotion to Support Local Business.
Advertising space in the form of a designed advertising layout will be offered to Local
Business Houses on a first in confirmed booking basis and you will be shown the planned
layout and advertising space available.
The proposal is to publish the Kit Folder and its content information with as much
material related to what new residents will require to know when moving into the area. It
will be distributed free of charge through selected distribution sources and we anticipate
to provide the kit to as many recent new home occupiers and rental occupants in Palmwoods
and will continue supply to all new residents thereafter.
Ron Corelli and Bev Everson will make calls to business houses in the area in the next
couple of weeks showing the format and taking bookings.
