POLICE BEAT
WITH SNR CONSTABLE PAUL CAMPBELL

THIEVES have been busy in the new year with three shops broken into at the Palmwoods Plaza. Apart from the damage to the doors thieves left empty handed as no cash had been left on the premises. Shop owners should not leave any cash in their shops overnight and discourage would be criminals by placing signs on the front window stipulating "No Cash Left on Premises".

BREAK-INS: In the last few days two houses have been broken into during daylight hours. Both houses have had their doors kicked in. It is possible that the offenders are knocking on the door first before kicking it in. If anyone has any information on people acting suspiciously please contact Crime Stoppers or Palmwoods Police.

SCHOOL SPEED: Operation Back to School is commencing in the Palmwoods division to make residents aware of the speed limits around schools. Be warned that Police from Palmwoods and Sunshine Coast Traffic Branch will be working radar in the school zones and the 40 km/h speed limit must be kept or else you may find yourself being issued with a speeding ticket. Remember that there are School Zones at Palmwoods Woombye and Chevallum Schools.

DRUG ARRESTS: Arrests have been made by Caloundra Detectives after a residence in the Woombye area was discovered to have been used as a Clandestine Laboratory for the manufacture of Amphetamines. Chemical burns were found in the residence on the beds and walls. The important issue here is that the process of manufacture used by these people is a very hazardous one. It anyone suspects persons of such activity, contact Police immediately as they have access to specially trained members of the Police Service to deal with these labs.
