COUNCIL
BRIEFS
WITH CR GEOFF LITTLER
CONGRATULATIONS to Marjorie Murray and Allan Wood on receipt of their Palmwoods Citizen
of the Year Awards received on Australia Day at Kolora Park. Both very well deserved.
Australia Day celebrations at Kolora Park were a huge success and it was very pleasing
to see the large number present and in particular a number of residents from our adjoining
towns of Woombye and Eudlo. Many worked hard to make it so successful and my thanks to
each and every one for doing so. The entertainment was excellent, particularly the
children's program.
Rates: Over the past fortnight or so Council has issued 56,000 rates notices Shire wide
in its second rates run for the 1998/99 financial year. Perhaps the biggest change this
time around is the introduction of B-pay - a great way to avoid the rates queue. Generally
payment using this method is only a matter of ringing your financial institution to debit
your desired account - it's that simple. But as always, if you have any problems, whether
it be using the new B-pay method, making the payment itself or any other query, please
contact our Customer Service Centre on 1300 366 695.
Palmwoods Pool: Council figures just released show that December was a busy month for
the Palmwoods pool, daily attendance being approx 255. Naturally, the Maroochydore complex
had the greatest daily attendance, however Palmwoods came next followed by Nambour and
Buderim in that order.
