Work
starts on interchange
WORK has started on the $4.8 million project to construct an interchange at the Kiel
Mountain Road/ Montville Road intersection on the Nambour Connection Road.
Acting Transport Minister Rod Welford said there had been concern in the local
community about the overall cost of the project, and suggestions that it could be
simplified," he said. "As a result Main Roads has refined the project cost,
which is now $4.8 million compared with the original $6.5m."
The interchange will have a two-span overpass bridge with improved storm water drainage
and intersection lighting works. Work would provide jobs for around 30 people and should
be completed by September.
