THE annual summer holidays are over and people are back in their workaday world, while the younger generation are adjusting to a new scholastic year. Hopefully everyone had an enjoyable holiday.

Iris Moore had a very enjoyable holiday to Lismore and environs, while Mary Whitbread flew off to New Zealand for her annual get-away-from-it-all holiday. Councillor Geoff and Trish Littler look refreshed after their holiday away from the busy lives they lead at their home in Palmwoods.

NEW FACES: To the people who have become residents of this area, during the Christmas New Year holiday period, Palmwoods bids you welcome. You have chosen a lovely district as your home base. There is a wonderful spirit of community in Palmwoods. No matter what your hobby or pastime may be, there are clubs and organisations that will cater for your interests. Those clubs and organisations will cordially welcome you. Please become a part of this town because together we can make it even better.

GET WELL: Alex Briggs, of the retirement village, is in a Brisbane hospital undergoing treatment for a very serious illness. Alex's good wife Myrtle is staying in Brisbane to be close to the hospital and Alex. To Myrtle, who had a birthday early in February, and to Alex in hospital for treatment, the thoughts and prayers of your many friends are with you both.

RAFFLE ADDICT: Well-known Woombye man-about-town, Arthur Wilson, cannot resist buying a ticket in a raffle. Not just one ticket, Arthur keeps coming back for more. Recently, a ticket seller, offering a chance to win the beautiful porcelain doll being raffled by the Palmwoods Progress Association, reminded Arthur that he had already bought tickets. Arthur insisted that he wanted two more, and the last ticket was to be in the name of Elizabeth his wife. Guess who won the lovely porcelain doll? Yellow ticket "A9" in the name of Mrs Elizabeth Wilson. Congratulations to both Arthur who bought the ticket and Elizabeth who received the prize.
