From page 1:

ALTHOUGH, Haimee-Jane is now one step closer to winning the national title and a world trip, there are still several heats and plenty of personal experiences ahead. In announcing Haimee-Jane’s selection, the President of the Lions Club, Trevor Eichmann, said she possesses excellent leadership qualities.

"Haimee-Jane is an outstanding student who has clear views on community and national issues and is keen to make her contribution to society," said President, Trevor. "Over 50 entries were received from Sunshine coast Schools and the overall standard of these local students was excellent."

The winner of the Public speaking section of the Quest was Alena Titterton representing Nambour State High School. The 1998/99 Lions Youth of the Year Quest national champion, who will be selected at the Lions National Convention in Brisbane during the 1st week of May, will be an outstanding individual who will travel overseas as an ambassador for Australia. Other Main Prizes include an around Australia for each State winner, with $500 spending money. The Lions Youth of the Year is proudly supported by National Ausralia Bank as part of its Community Link Program.
