Don't panic - we're going fortnightly
PALMWOODS District News readers may soon start thinking the year is passing too quickly
- but dont panic - the News is just going to be coming out more regularly.
From April, and yes the first of the fortnightly editions is due out on that special
date April 1, we will be introducing a range of new columns and items of interest for
readers as well as classified advertisements for readers convenience.
Being a community newspaper which concentrates pretty much totally on our region from
Eudlo, to Palmwoods, Woombye and Tanawha, (yes we could proudly be called parochial),
wed like to see more of our readers opinions in the paper. And while our paper
relies heavily on contributions from our regular column writers, were hoping to hear
from more community groups, sporting groups and other general interest organisation...let
us know whats on, whats new, whats happening in our region.
New general interest columns will focus on health, computers, gardening and spiritual.
So - if you are interested in finding out how to place a classified advertisement, you
can ring MaryAnn Rose on 54789966 - shes in the Kolora Place office on Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 3pm, or leave a message on the answering machine.
If you know of any interesting news, let Joanna Jones know about it on 5441 7621.
If you need any information about submitting your news, let us know.

HAVING only lived in the this district or eight months (after time at Mudjimba, Beerwah
and Maryborough), I have noted with interest the variety of spellings on district
roads/areas and would be pleased to receive any information on the local areas and perhaps
how theyre spelt and where the names originated from.
We are about to build in Highlands Road, or is that Highland Road...after noting two
signs on the same road varied, I went back through all our official council and government
documents, only to find that it was 50/50 on spelling.
Landers Shute/Shoot is another which has me fascinated...if anyone knows of its
origins. The new owner of the PDN says the road named after his family Garrard Road...has
an extra r as the family name is Garrad.

ON another note, while my contact with the district in the past has been limited to the
Palmwoods Memorial Hall dance (I used to be a keen ballroom dancer) and my husbands
chiropractor (the late Jack Kaiser), and some weekend meditations at Eudlos
Chenrezig Institute, I have been tasting some of the local delights lately which
definitely rate a mention.
We joined the Palmwoods Bowls Club Social Club and enjoyed a relaxed meal there...which
is very difficult in some places as we come with a very active three and
four-year-old...congratulations to the club on its impressive-looking extensions.
We actually found baby sitters one night and had one of those rare opportunities to eat
alone and unhindered - at Main Street Cafe.
Thanks Nyrie and Charmain for a great currie - these ladies are not only great cooks
but they are genuinely friendly folk who add to the already interesting cafe atmosphere.
The trio from the PDN also enjoyed a lovely brunch at the Palmwoods Coffee house last
week - thanks Trish - and we loved the craft too.
