Notable Tree Project
THE Heritage Tree Walk is a community conservation and preservation project initiated
by R & R.
The group has been granted joint funding by the Maroochy Council to locate and identify
heritage value trees of all species within Palmwoods. Ultimately this will provide a
series of self guided walks to the community and preserve our significant trees for future
generations.
Completion will coincide with the millennium celebrations and official opening of
Federation Park. A spokesman reports: At this stage we are compiling a list to be
submitted to Ann Moran (local botanist) for verification as trees will be preserved under
local law, and other organisations. Your help in locating what you feel is a tree worth
saving would be appreciated. Some trees will no doubt be on private land and the situation
will be that not all trees will be included in the walk but may still be preserved. Trees
that are included will be indicated on plaques located in the two main parks Kolora and
Federation. Individual trees will be placard with information and a associating number.
Each site will be maintained through support of Junior Land Care Palmwoods.
