THE Palmwoods New Residents Information Kit Folder was
released on March 15, a project of the Palmwoods Progress Association (PPA), supported by
20 business houses, in the form of advertising on the folder.
The kit contains information from a wide range of organisations such as Maroochy Shire
Council, Palmwoods State School, Palmwoods Memorial Hall Committee, Palmwoods Swimming
Club, Palmwoods Arts & Craft Association, Palmwoods Residents & Ratepayers
Association, Palmwoods Progress Association, just to name a few. The folder is being
delivered to recent new residents and will be available to all new residents through the
Palmwoods Post Office, Bill Ellis First National Real Estate and Palmwoods Real Estate
offices on request at no charge.
The kit folder has been generously accepted by the community and the local media as a
"first of its kind on the Sunshine Coast and promotes Palmwoods as
Your piece of Paradise on the Sunshine Coast.
PPA flag: Last year, January 1998, the PPA struck its own flag which was flown
at the Australia Day Kolora Park Celebration, distinctively in green and gold and this
year at the Australia Day Kolora Park Celebration produced Flag Wavers again in green and
gold with the inscription of PROUD TO BE PALMWOODS founded 1881. A PIECE OF PARADISE
ON THE SUNSHINE COAST.
Meeting update: Our last meeting in March approval was given to striking a PPA
Oval Disk to be placed at the entry statement at each end of the town in green and gold
with the words Palmwoods Progress Association Inc. Established 1902.
A sub committee has been formed to market the PPA Project 2000 Memorial Shelter to be
constructed in the centre of town with Inscribed Floor Tiles to be set down as the
flooring for the Shelter, the project will be self-funding and residents will be able to
buy a tile for $100 ($20 deposit).
The Project 2000 Committee will take the project to the people and throughout Australia
through various media to find early Pioneer Family descendants who would want to
participate in this everlasting tribute. Those who wish to book or buy a tile can contact
Roger Brooke on 54450213 or pick up an application order form from the Palmwoods Post
