We're going twice monthly

IT’S an exciting time for Palmwoods District News, with our move to twice-monthly publication as well as other enhancements, to improve the service we can offer our readers and advertisers.

First, a bit of explanation about our frequency of publication. It’s not quite fortnightly as there will be 24 issues per year not 26, with an "early" and "late" edition each month, usually on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays. The exception this year is July, when we’ll publish on the 3rd and 5th Thursdays. Each year there will be four occasions when the gap between PDNs is three weeks instead of two, and these will be timed to coincide with school holidays.

A more frequent paper will allow us to provide more up-to-date news, and also make our classified advertising section more attractive to advertisers. Our new "Date Claimers" service will help readers keep track of forthcoming meetings and community events.

Our office in Kolora Place, Palmwoods is starting to fulfill its potential, with our new "library corner" containing reference copies of newspapers and periodicals from throughout the Sunshine Coast. If you have any unwanted back copies of local papers, please drop them in. Our Internet site is also being enhanced, with colour photos and clearer pictures of our newspaper’s pages, so that both stories and ads can be examined by people anywhere in the world. Recent e-mail correspondence shows that the online version of our paper is being used by people outside the district.

Ross Garrad.
