Heavy rain slows progress at Old Orchard
by Joanna Jones

WORK on the Old Orchard estate in Palmwoods has been slowed down by heavy February and March rainfalls.

Marketing Consultants Ken and Judy Owen said that whilst the rain had caused some hold ups, the estate is still progressing well.

"The dam has been pumped out and filled in, and will eventually be replaced with little ponds," Judy said.

"Lots of levelling has occurred and all the orange trees have been removed and burnt off."

The estate which will feature heritage style architecture and lighting, lots of vegetation and parks, has attracted a lot of expressions of interest, especially from local investors.

"Around eight of the blocks have people listed who are waiting to be contacted when the development gets to ‘contract’ stage,’’ Ken said.

The old orchard estate is situated adjacent to Palmwoods School Road and will in completion, consist of 331 blocks. Stage One, ‘Merryman’s Flat’ has recently been released.
