by Joanna Jones
SEVERAL local groups will benefit from grants from the Gaming Machine Community Benefit
Fund for the March quarter.
The Lions Club of Palmwoods-Woombye will receive $15,000 towards upgrades to the
community centre.
The Tanawha & District Community Association have been allocated $15,000 towards
the fitout of their community centre.
Queensland Treasurer David Hamill said that the whole community benefits from these
grants.
"It is heartening to see part of the gaming dollar being put towards worthwhile
community causes."
The Community Benefit Fund was established in 1994 to ensure community organisations
benefited from the introduction of poker machines in Queensland.
