POLICE BEAT
with Snr Const Paul Campbell

Offender arrested

A 24-year-old male person was arrested in Sandgate after being stopped by Traffic Police for a Random Breath Test.

This person was driving a car that had been stolen from a break and enter at Tanawha. He was charged with a number of offences and inquiries are continuing as other offenders are believed to be involved.

The man arrested originates from Brisbane and was not a local. Police often expect that a lot of Break and Enters that are committed on the coast have the offenders coming from Brisbane and surrounding areas so remember engrave your property and make your home secure.

Keep animals fenced

Police were called in the early hours last week to complaints that two horses were wandering on the road near the cemetery at Palmwoods, one wearing a red coat and one a blue.

Police were unable to locate the horses but could see that they had been on the road. Owners should constantly check gates and fences to avoid their animals straying onto the road presenting a danger to their animals and other road users.

Lucky motorcyclist

A motorcyclist was lucky not to have been seriously injured when a truck travelling in front of the motorcycle brought down power lines.

Luckily the motorcyclist dodged the live wires and quick thinking by workers at Ron Turner’s Depot warned motorists until the arrival of Police and Energex workers. The power lines were still live and presented a serious risk to people using the area. Please treat any downed power lines as live and secure the area and call Police and Energex.
