Community
seeks landmark protection
by Joanna Jones
A RECENT listing of the parcel of land adjacent to Kolora Park has caused concern
amongst many local residents.
Listed by Bill Ellis First National Real Estate the land is currently privately owned
and is just under one hectare. The land is heavily treed and many people using the park
stroll through this area, using it as a nature strip.
The land is zoned Rural B, which means that hypothetically the trees could be cleared
to build a dwelling or for agricultural purposes. The land would not be able to be
subdivided due to its size.
Bill Ellis has submitted a proposal to the council recommending council purchase the
land in the interests of the Palmwoods community.
"Now that we are all paying a green levy, this is exactly the type of purchase the
council should make," he said.
"Buying this land should be a must for Palmwoods."
The council has been made aware of the issue.
