Singers prepare to perform at
Immanuel Gardens Village

Palmwoods Singers Theatrical Society’s adult group has been busy preparing items to present at Immanuel Gardens Village on 6th May at a fund raising concert in which they were invited to take part.

The following evening they took part in another concert, organised annually by Meals on Wheels at Rotary Village Hall. The junior groups are hard at work following auditions for parts in The Prince and the Penguin. In the lead roles are Phillipa Gorman as Prince Peter, Rebecca McCracken as Presley, Christopher Bourke the Emperor and Emily Sanders the Empress. Count Percival will be Raphael Cooney and Countess Pamela is Ashley Jones. Tracey Baxter has been chosen to be lead vocalist for the Musical Review Wizard of Oz.

The Dulcettes group, which caters for teenagers and young adults still has some vacancies. This group concentrates on more modern vocals, including some harmony work. They practise on Wednesday nights from 7 to 8 pm, anyone interested in joining this group should phone 5445 9257.

Congratulations to member Vera Herse who celebrated her 80th birthday during the month. Vera enjoyed a family party at the Maroochy River Resort. The following day Palmwoods Singers rewarded her for coming to practice on her birthday with an afternoon tea party, with birthday cake and candles.

Dances in the Palmwoods Memorial Hall continue to be well attended. During May the Tennis Club will host the dance on the 15th and the extra dance occurring on the 29th because there are five Saturdays in May, will be run by the Hall Committee and friends. Come along to enjoy a night of fine music and a great atmosphere, not to mention a delicious supper. Admission $8 includes supper. Starting time 8pm. Phone inquiries 5478 9539.
