Palmwoods students are sailing

Palmwoods students take part in district sailing competition.

WE are sailing....Palmwoods State School Year 7 students recently took out first and second places in the Nambour District Schools Sailing Competition held on the Maroochy River.

In preparation for the event, the students took part in an eight week training course which taught them the basics of sailing such as tacking, steering, gybing, leaving the shore and righting the boat after capsizing. Year 7 students have been participating in this sailing course for a number of years and find it extremely enjoyable and informative. The winning team consisted of Alana Howarth, Raphael Venn and Patrick. The runner up team included Rhys McGahey, Cameron Parry and Casey Kennedy.
