School
in brief
Zooming in on speed
ZOOMING in on speed....Ensuring schools are safe places for student learning is a
community responsibility.
In an effort to increase road safety in the immediate vicinity of the school, Palmwoods
State School recently mounted a speed cameras campaign on its main roads.
A speed camera was operated daily from 7.30am to 9am and 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
The objective of the campaign was to raise motorists awareness of the need for
caution whilst driving in the school zone.
The school would like to thank Tony White and Bill Whanau for volunteering their
services for this worthwhile road safety exercise.
A visit from the deep
STUDENTS at Palmwoods State School recently learnt about life beneath our oceans
through a program called Destination Deep.
To gain an understanding of the size of some of our animals which live in the depths of
the ocean, a life size model of a whale was on display on the oval for the day.
The children also heard a talk on the animals which could be found in the deep, their
size, the food chain and scuba diving.
Working models of various smaller animals were also on display.
