Stalwarts say thanks

LOCAL stalwarts of the Nambour Branch of the Red Cross Society, Margaret Andrews and Heather Abraham, were overwhelmed with the donations and support tendered by the Palmwoods and Woombye residents to the recent Red Cross Annual Doorknock.

Senior students from the Christian Outreach College and the Nambour Christian College willingly gave of the time to tramp from door to door in both Woombye and Palmwoods townships, seeking donation whilst adult members of the Nambour Red Cross sought donations each day at the Woombye IGA Foodstore.

A very much appreciated effort by all who took part. All monies received by the Society during the national annual doorknock appeal will be dispursed in the Australasian region.

When the Red Cross have a special appeal, such as the current Kosova Refugee Appeal, all monies raised are channelled to that specific purpose.

Wedding bells

Wedding bells pealed on May 8 when local lass Helen Hooper was married to Grant Skinner. Grant and Helen chose Ainslie House at Caloundra for their wedding celebrations. Congratulations to you both and we wish you every happiness for the years ahead. After their honeymoon, spent at Hervey Bay, Mr and Mrs Grant Skinner will make their home at Palmwoods.

Holidaymakers return

Jane and Tony Wright have returned to their Palmwoods home after a very enjoyable holiday touring New Zealand. Just days after returning to their nest both Jane and Tony became ill when a very heavy cold bug manifested itself into their systems. Both were quite off colour for a week or more. It must have been all that snow in the South Island that chilled them to the bone.

Trish on the mend

Mrs Trish Littler is home from hospital after undergoing eye surgery. Trish had been somewhat frustrated because of her extended hospital sojourn and was forced to curb her social activities for a time. She is now recovering well and we shall see Trish out and about again soon. The good wishes of the residents hereabouts are with you Trish.
