Planning scheme to open for comment

THE State government has given conditional approval for the draft Planning Scheme to be released for community comment.

The document and associated maps will be reproduced along with other display and information material including an introductory video on the draft planning scheme and a CD Rom version of the document.

A public exhibition period will last for 60 business days and during that time, Council will initiate a thorough consultation program, ensuring the community has every opportunity to comment on the draft planning scheme.

"No one knows Maroochy like the people who live and work here, so we want the community’s thoughts and comments on the draft planning scheme," mayor Don Culley said.

"We will ensure the community is given every opportunity to view and understand the document and comment if they wish."

The public exhibition will commence on Tuesday, June 15, and run through to Tuesday, September 7.

There will be displays at a variety of locations throughout the shire including the Customer Service Centres at Nambour and Maroochydore, council libraries, selected shopping centres and other selected locations.
