COUNCIL
BRIEFS
WITH CR GEOFF LITTLER
The Weather Improves
I TAKE this opportunity to thank residents for their patience over the
last month when their roads flooded and fell to pieces due to the excessive rains.
The road gangs have worked overtime to repair the damage and I
certainly appreciate and thank them for their effort.
Brickbats and Bouquets
DURING Local Government week I spent a very interesting hour with
Palmwoods State School, Year 7 students. Both brickbats and bouquets were received but I
must say the brickbats were of a constructive nature. Thank you Year 7.
Here are some of the comments given to me:
At the clock tower where the buses stop to let all the high school
get dropped off the red dirt is turned up. When people walk there after rain, even before
rain, their feet get all muddy and it is really hard to get off, plus it stains. I think
someone should do something about it like putting grass or gravel there;
When it rains Kolora Park gets flooded and all the dirt from the bank
gets erodedand the pond gets filthy from the dirt. I think you should put an erosion net
on the bank so it won't get as eroded as it does now;
I would just like to thank you for all the work you and the council
have done for the Palmwoods neighbourhood. Just to name a few being the mobile library and
the maintenance of spare land;
The Palmwoods Duck Pond Forest Walks are very disgraceful and
whats more the small creeks are full of stagnant water and sand. It smells like
sewerage and looks terrible and in one part of the walk there is disgusting water over the
path;
I think the mobile library is fantastic. Its great for the young and
the elderly.
Draft Planning Scheme
MAROOCHY Shire Councils draft new Planning Scheme has State
Government approval and will then go on public display on June 15 .
The plan is the size of a small encyclopaedia and may be cumbersome to
read. However there is an interactive CD Rom version for those who wish to take advantage
of modern technology.
