Singers in fine voice
PALMWOODS Singers adult group thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the
concert at Immanuel Gardens Nursing Home during May.
Unfortunately weather conditions prohibited the outdoor function
originally planned and the large audience filled the large facilities room to overflowing.
The Meals on Wheels variety concert also attracted a great audience
to enjoy some excellent performances, notably those of the talented Smith sisters of
Eudlo, who, together with the Palmwoods Singers have taken part in each annual concert
since they began three years ago. The eldest of the three girls, Elysia has settled
happily into her first year at the Brisbane Conservatorium of Music and delighted the
audience with her recital at the closing.
The singers hope to arrange a performance of a group of these gifted
young people from the Conservatorium at the Palmwoods Memorial Hall during the year. They
now look forward to taking part in the celebrations for the International Year of the
Older Persons at Cotton Tree on June 11 with a 30 minute performance early in the
afternoon.
They will entertain at the Nambour Legacy Laurel Groups meeting
on June 21.
Meanwhile the younger groups are rehearsing The Prince and the Penguin
while costuming is taking shape, with some great help from the mothers. Phone 5445 9257 or
5445 9280 with inquiries.
