Woombye
students get up close to insects
AS a culmination of their study of insects and minibeasts this term,
Woombye State School Year 1 children visited Bilai Environmental Centre to look at insects
in their natural environs.
The highlight of their excursion was the trek along the boardwalk,
where they stopped at crab city to feed the red-clawed nippers.
THE Year 6 children are in the throes of being authors, in writing
their own short stories. With class teachers and teacher librarians assistance,
these budding writers have been researching author styles, picture books and
illustrators techniques: pencil, pastel, print, paint, collage in order to broaden
their genre. It is envisaged the finished stories, once published will be presented to the
age groups for which they were written.
THE life education van is in residence for a week, during which time
its focus for classes is on nutrition, digestion, healthy foods and the functions of our
organs.
CONGRATULATIONS to the following students who will now represent the
Sunshine Coast Region in their chosen sport: Allen Ledger, Lawson Peters, Tyson Sawrey,
Nick Allen-Waters, Kelly Baxter, Jessica McMahon, Lizzie Atkinson and Brooke Dryden for
Regional Cross Country. Regional Soccer: Tyson Sawrey, Elliott Peters. Gymnastics: Traci
Baxter. We wish these children success in their competition.
