Shaving for a Cure

HOW many teenage girls do you know who would be willing to put vanity
aside for a worthy cause? Rebecca Whittington of Palmwoods (pictured
above), willingly had her head shaved on May 18 as part of a
fund-raising venture for leukaemia.
Nambour High School student 16 year old Rebecca, along with her
teacher, Christine McDonald had their hair shaved off after raising in
excess of $2,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Rebecca has had a hectic few weeks, after singing the hymn and leading
the national anthem, accompanied by the Maroochy District Band, at the
ANZAC Day ceremony at Quota Park in Nambour. She also fronted up again on
Friday April 27 with the Nambour High School quartet to sing at the
Maroochy Shire Naturalisation Ceremony at the Nambour Civic Centre.
Rebecca was the Maroochy Shire Junior Citizen of the Year in 2000.
