POLICE BEAT
with Snr Const Paul Campbell

U TURNS

With numerous near misses and the odd traffic accident outside the Police Station, drivers be warned that performing a U Turn outside the Police station is an offence of crossing double lines and can incur a penalty of $135 and three points. Vehicles wishing to do a U Turn on Margaret Street should do them at the appropriate breaks in the double lines. Police will be monitoring this and tickets will be issued.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

A Montville man was arrested for obstructing a Police officer and breaching a domestic violence order, after a domestic with his defacto wife. A Eudlo man appeared in court after another domestic involving damage to property. In both instances previous domestic violence in the homes had not been brought to the attention of Police and nothing was done. Police can only intervene and help if they are advised of the violence.

OFFENDERS CAUGHT

Two juvenile girls were detained for questioning at Mooloolah after a taxi driver was robbed at knife point of his mobile phone and wallet. A number of Police vehicles including the Police Dog Squad were used in the search for the juveniles.

R.B.T.

You will have noticed the increase in the number of Police doing Random Breath Testing in the Palmwoods area. A recent traffic enforcement netted a number of speeding tickets and two people were caught with a blood alcohol level of .06% and .09%.

Eighty-five drivers were tested on the evening with the majority of tested drivers recording a nil reading. These figures are very good and hopefully send a message to anyone who may want to run the gauntlet that Police can be anywhere at anytime. Don’t take the risk and plan your evening.
