Fun at Riding for the Disabled Open Day

THE sun was shining on the enthusiastic riders and volunteers at the
annual Riding for Disabled Open Day at Palmwoods Park, Hunchy.
A couple of hundred people came along to support the organisation and
enjoy the riding display and other attractions such as hay rides, market
stalls and a classic car display.
Member for Nicklin Peter Wellington opened the proceedings and Channel
Seven’s Justin Veivers donated and presented the trophies to the riders.
It was a real community event, the Palmwoods-Woombye Lions Club held a
BBQ, the Palmwoods Boy Scouts helped with car parking, the Palmwoods Arts
& Craft group held a stall and the local CWA helped out also.
The Burnside School Band entertained the crowd and the Corvette Club
travelled up from Brisbane to dazzle with their spectacular cars.
But of course, the day was all about the club, the riders and the
dedicated band of volunteers that keep this worthwhile organisation
running.
The riders, who all received trophies, were: Joanne Jarvis, Ryan Thrupp,
Nathan MacIntyre, David Ashwood, Virginia White, Caleb Bull, Damien Doman,
Harry Wood, Derell Spring, Deborah Clayton, Angela Spiro, Nicola Wilson,
Sapphira Mienert, Lauren Mienert, Emily Ames, Nathan Darling, Samuel
Meninga, William Proctor, Brendon McCurley, Melanie Lang, Troy Grundemann
and Samuel Hutchinson.
Riding for the Disabled has been operating in Palmwoods for 21 years
and are always looking for volunteers.
